1. What is the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers?
1. What is the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? The Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers is a provincial database of Manitoba health research expertise, with information about health researchers currently residing and working in Manitoba. The Directory was developed by the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR), in partnership with Quebec's provincial health research foundation, Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec. 2. What is the URL for the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? The URL for the Directory is www.mbresearcherdirectory.mb.ca. 3. What is the data source for the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? The data fields within the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers are populated by information within the Common CV, a web-based tool that allows Canadian-based researchers to manage their CV data in a single, secure, on-line repository. 4. What information about Manitoba health researchers is contained in the Directory? The initial version of the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers provides contact details and displays information including training and credentials, areas of expertise, technological applications, research activities and publications. Read the Directory's Profile Sections for further details. 5. How does MHRC ensure that the Directory stays accurate and current? The Common CV is a comprehensive resume of experience and achievements that must be regularly updated by researchers as a requirement of their university appointments and for application to research funding agencies. The Directory is updated whenever members of the Directory update their information within the Common CV. Each researcher or trainee is individually responsible for the accuracy of his or her information within the Common CV, and within the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers. However, as a quality assurance measure, MHRC staff members validate new entries and updates before the information is loaded onto the Directory. 6. Who can join the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? All Manitoba-based Postdoctoral Students or Fellows or Researchers who either register with the Common CV or update their information on the Common CV, are invited to join the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers. This includes: Manitoba applicants to a MHRC competition 7. How do I get invited to join the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? Your primary affiliation address must be in Manitoba to generate the invitation to the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers. This invitation can be found within the Common CV on the "Home - My CV" screen, in the section entitled "My Consent." Follow the instructions in the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers User Guide (PDF). 8. Previously, I declined the invitation within the Common CV to join the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers. How do I get invited to join the Directory if I have since changed my mind? Log in to the Common CV. Click on the "My consent" link located in the "My file" section on the right hand side of your home page. Click on the button indicating your consent to be included in the Directory. Illustrated in the user guide (PDF). 9. Do I need to notify MHRC that I have agreed to be included in the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers? No. Once you give your consent within the Common CV, MHRC will be notified that you wish to join the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers. 10. How do I update my information in the Directory? To make changes to your Directory profile, you must update your CV information within the Common CV. Further details about which Common CV fields are displayed in the Directory, are available in the Profile Section of the Directory web site. 11.
