The MHRC, on behalf of its competition partners, is pleased to announce the award recipients from the 2010 Awards competition. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL AWARDEES!

Award Recipient Listing

Electronic Grants Management System

For the 2010 Competition, all applications for—

• Postdoctoral Fellowships
• Clinical Research Fellowships
• Master's Studentships, and
• PhD Studentships

will be submitted on-line through MHRC's Electronic Grants Management System (eGMS). You will have an opportunity to self-declare relevancy for coordinated fellowship & studentship funding on the form.

Paper Application Submissions

Applications for our other competitions which include—

• PhD Dissertation
• Operating Grants
• Establishment Grants, and
• Manitoba Research Chair

will be submitted using paper application forms. These forms are located in the program section of the web site, in PDF format.

CCV Requirement for ALL 2010 Competition Applicants

All applicants must submit a validated MHRC Canadian Common CV (CCV).

Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers

The MHRC is happy to announce the launch of the Manitoba Directory of Health Researchers, a fully searchable database of Manitoba researchers.

We thank everyone who has signed up for the Directory to date, and encourage those individuals who have not yet done so. Information of how to join can be found under the "researcher directory" tab.

Dr. Jitender Sareen, Manitoba Research Chair

Dr. Sareen's research focuses on two major public health issues in Canada. First, he aims to expand our understanding of the mental health consequences of combat and peace keeping among soldiers. Second, he will examine risk factors for on-reserve suicides among Aboriginal populations, and advance suicide prevention strategies.

Dr. Abdelilah Soussi Gounni, 2009 Manitoba Research Chair

Inflammation is a cardinal feature of airway diseases such as asthma. However, the molecular signaling pathways governing the inflammatory response within the airway are not fully understood.

Dr. Soussi Gounni's research program is to define the key signaling pathways involved in the regulation of neutrophils and ASM cells activation that mediate airway inflammation.
