The MS Clinic at HSC Winnipeg will be participating in a national clinical trial of venous angioplasty for Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI).
The UBC Hospital MS Clinic is leading the study, called Phase I/II Interventional Clinical Trial of Balloon Venoplasty for CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis patients. Dr. Reza Vosoughi will be leading the study in Winnipeg.
The trial is funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR), with support from the provinces of British Columbia, Quebec and Manitoba, as well as the MS Society of Canada.
To date, patients are being recruited through four trial sites: the UBC Hospital MS Clinic in Vancouver; the MS Clinic, Campus Notre-Dame du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM), in Montreal; CHU de Québec - Hôpital Enfant Jésus, in Quebec City and Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg, in Winnipeg. Additional sites may join in the future.
